Degas International Dance Academy is a dance studio dedicated to instructing, educating and inspiring children to advanced professional performers in the ART of DANCE.
Our Delft Netherlands is our newest location which opened September of 2021 when the Founder/Owner and Artistic Director Anacia Weiskittel moved to the Netherlands with her family. Her first location was founded in 2010 in Los Angeles, CA on Ventura Blvd in Encino. www.degasdancestudio.com
Degas International Dance Academy is a training and performance oriented studio with pre-professional opportunities and career guidance. Our focus in on technique and artistry from the ground up. Our studio offers the highest level of instruction for recreational students Ages 3 to 18 and offers an accelerated training program for our team selection students.
Degas (pronounced Dey-Ga) was named after the French famous painter Edgar Degas who was known for painting dancers. We felt the name closely related to our philosophy and mission to teach children through advanced pre-professionals
TEACHING THE ART OF DANCE
Classes are taught in ENGLISH. Our community is very international and our students speak many languages. While the Director is working hard to learn Dutch and wants to fully integrate into the society, this is a great opportunity for our students to work on their English.
Many people have a hard time categorizing our studio. I would say we are not JUST a classical ballet studio, we are NOT just a competition studio. We are creating, inspiring, educating, and empowering well rounded ARTISTS to explore and discover the ART of DANCE and all of its possibilities.
We are training and empowering students to find and use their unique artistic voice. Creating the next generation of artists, dancers, choreographers and directors. Whether you want to be a professional dancer or learn valuable life skills that will help you be successful at whatever you wan to do in life.
Degas Dance Studio in Los Angeles has produced unprecedented talent from the ground up. Our Alumni students have been recipients of National Young Arts Spotlight, YAGP 1st Place awards. Scholarship recipients and acceptances to top summer programs including SAB, ABT, San Francisco Ballet, Bolshoi, Houston Ballet, Jacobs Pillow, Orsolina 28, European School of Ballet, Alvin Ailey, Harid Conservatory, Bodytraffic, Hubbard Street and tons more. As well as some of the top college programs including Codarts Rotterdam in Netherlands, Copenhagen Contemporary Dance Conservatory in Denmark, Ailey Fordham, USC, Boston Conservatory, Columbia, NYU Tisch, University of Michigan, Vasser, Peabody at Johns Hopkins and many are working professionally in the industry or have used their skills to help them be successful in whatever they set their minds to achieve including doctors, lawyers, business executives, finance, education, marketing, psychology, journalism and other industries. They will all say that dance helped them tremendously to build life skills including time management, work ethic, discipline, creativity, confidence, goal setting and strong character values and a community of supportive like-minded individuals that have helped them be successful.
