Mia Bourhis

Instructor

Mia Bourhis is a contemporary dancer, teacher and choreographer from Paris currently working with IID Dance Company in Rotterdam and collaborating with Nnamdi Nwagwu and Béatrice Larrivée. She previously danced with Compagnie Yasaman in Paris before joining Conny Janssen Danst, where she performed creations by Conny Janssen, Charlie Skuy, Antonin Comestaz and Patricia Van Deutekom.

Her professional training began in ballet at the Conservatoire à Rayonnement Régional de Paris where she received her diploma of choreographic studies with honours (2019). She pursued her studies in contemporary dance at the Kibbutz Contemporary Dance Company’s Masa Programme in Israel before graduating with First-Class Honours from the Rambert School of Ballet and Contemporary Dance in London (2023). She had the opportunity to join workshops such as the GagaLab (Tel Aviv), Crystal Pite (Orsolina28), Sharon Eyal (Paris), Hofesh Shechter (London), Komoco (Firenze), Etay Axelroad (Paris) and The Royal Ballet School (London).

Throughout her career and stage experience, Mia has performed a variety of styles ranging from classical with pieces from Balanchine, Petitpa, Nureev, Jiri Kylian, to contemporary, appearing in productions at Sadler's Wells and collaborating with artists and companies such as Akram Khan, Matsena Productions, Ana Maria Lucaciu and Anne Teresa De Keersmaeker. Alongside performing, she is passionate about choreography and has presented her own creations in London.

Besides dancing, Mia is also following a Bachelors Degree in Musicology and Composition at Sorbonne University in Paris, where she explores the relationship between movement and sound. Deeply curious and committed to her craft, she views dance as a way to investigate both the body and the mind. She believes that the stage is a place where authenticity emerges and where movement can communicate what words cannot.

As a teacher, Mia aims to help students develop a deeper awareness of their bodies, increasing strength, availability and proprioception through codified dance languages such as ballet and jazz. Her classes focus on cultivating presence, musicality and artistry while creating an environment where students can challenge themselves, discover new possibilities in movement and, above all, enjoy dancing.
